On The Astbury stove, does the stove require an external airflow to function or can it operate without ? If the stove requires the external air, can this be taken from below a suspended floor ?Question by: Connor on 3 Oct 2025, 19:55Hi Connor,
The Astbury is a 5kw stove, so in most properties the air supply naturally in the room should suffice and this shouldn't require additional ventilation.
If the air permeability is such that the fitter believes that additional ventilation would be required (usually only in room sealed new build properties) then this can be achieved through either an external air duct directly to the back of the stove, or an air brick in the same room
The manufacturer advises that "the positioning of any air vent must be so that it cannot be liable to blockage or obstruction. Ideally it should also be positioned where it is unlikely to cause a cold draught. It should not be positioned in the fireplace recess"Answer by: Jack on 4 Oct 2025, 09:22
