We are proud to manufacture DURA FLUE, the only chimney liner in the UK that is manufactured in such a way that it does not come apart internally when flexed or installed.
It is the only chimney liner on the market that is manufactured so that the internal duct is completely sealed, as you can see from the accompanying images. If the flue liner you are considering purchasing has to be fitted a certain way up – it will have directional arrows on it – then it definitely is not DURA FLUE. DURA FLUE is completely sealed inside so whichever way up it is fitted, you will be safe in the knowledge that it has been done so correctly.
DURA FLUE is also designed with two completely different patented types of stainless steel strips, which are inner and outer. You will often hear other suppliers using terms such as “better quality steel” or “fit the best” but with no technical explanation offered. We use the same 316 or 904 grade stainless steel to manufacture our liners but it is the process the steel goes through that makes them unique and able to withstand higher levels of corrosion. It also gives them their unparalleled durability and strength.
The outer strip is profiled into a hard corrugated shell that protects the smooth inner duct when the liner is being installed down a brick chimney. With standard chimney liner this is the point at which the inner duct is damaged upon installation and the internal flaps come apart (as seen in the photo). This does not happen with DURA FLUE, as the corrugated outer skin can take the punishment that comes with an installation, leaving the inside smooth and in tact.
The inner strip is profiled in such a way that, when formed, it is completely smooth. The surface of the stainless steel is completely fresh and has never been compromised, therefore making it much more difficult for corrosion to set in. With conventional liner you will be able to see fine scratches on the surface of the flaps where the steel has been compromised in production. You will also very easily be able to pull apart the liner with your hands with no real effort. You cannot do this with DURA FLUE.
As the steel has not come under any stress or forces during manufacturing, the possibility of corrosion is minimised, as there are no weak spots for it to set in. DURA FLUE is also tested well above the standards required for a liner in Great Britain and, as such, we offer a no quibble 15-year warranty on our 316 grade liner and a 30-year warranty on our 904 grade liner.
